It is a challenge to find affordable freelance editors. Many charge by the hour, which can get really expensive and complicated. There is a $45 minimum charge for very small documents under 1000 words.To keep things simple, I price each level of editing (Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3) on a flat per-word basis, and I base that on the initial length (as opposed to the final length) of your document.If you know how many words your document has and what level of edit you require, you already have a really good idea of how much you're going to pay. I also offer a free sample edit.

 

Enduring Prose Prices:

 

Level 1: Proofreading $.008 per word

 

Level 2: Line Editing $.015 per word

 

Level 3: Comprehensive/Developmental Editing $.05 per word 

 

Manuscript Critique $200 ala carte, novel length (over 50K words) $100 ala carte, short story and novella length (under 50K words) $50 with the purchase of an editing package (any length)

 

Synopsis/Query Editing $150 ala carte $75 with the purchase of an editing package or critique

 

How Long Will it Take? Depending on how many projects are in queue as well as the length of your manuscript, it could take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks to finish your book. Estimated turnaround time will be provided at the time of your quote.

 

How Do I Pay? Enduring Prose accepts all payments through PayPal, which allows you to use your debit or credit card as you would through any other online service. You do not need to have a PayPal account in order to do this. When you receive your Enduring Prose  invoice, it will come with a prompt to pay with your credit card. For most jobs, I charge a 50% retainer fee with the remainder being due upon completion of the project. I also offer a "Chapter Pay" system, whereby you only pay for the pages I edit, one section at a time. You'll receive each edited piece back when it's finished as well as a fully-formatted Master document when the project is complete.
